I’d assumed being interesting and well written was a base line but you're right - it needs to be explicitly stated. Equally important your blog should be diverse enough that you keep those posts coming – and your readers reading when they visit. As a new blogger it’s something I'm learning – as my interests are all over the place – from media & technology to entrepreneurship to government. What I’m slowly doing is experimenting with posts that may touch these areas but have a traditional and social media angle. Maggie thanks for this. Can you say it in an entertaining & engaging way? Actually, I guess that's two things... But my point is this: your content must be interesting; for if it is boring, they will not come (and they why the heck are you publishing a corporate blog in the first place?)
